What we do

The Atalaya PTA is non-profit group that helps to build a sense of community among parents, teachers and students. We organize social events, family-oriented activities, and collaborative projects that bring people together. This sense of community fosters a supportive network, promotes school spirit, and strengthens the overall school culture.

In 2024-2025 school year we were able to fund a $15,000 library upgrade, purchase a Robot dog to be used by all classrooms with the support of Sandia and Los Alamos Labs and we finally saw the installation of our turf field.  We also received a grant to install a Hydroponic and Aquaponic systems in the school and classroom.

A big part of what we do is also supporting our teachers and school.  We help fund school programs and enrichment activities that are not included in the school’s budget, award teacher grants for special projects, help provide classroom supplies, fun field trips, provide teacher stipends, and more!

We fund Class Traditions (Grade level enrichment activities):
– Kinder – info coming soon
– 1st Grade – info coming soon
– 2nd Grade – info coming soon
– 3rd Grade – NDI (National Dance Institute)
– 4th Grade – info coming soon
– 5th Grade – info coming soon
– 6th Grade – end of the year camping trip!

The Grade-Level Traditions Program at Atalaya Elementary aims to provide each grade level with a unique and memorable enrichment experience. The Traditions Program is in development, with the goal of having a class “tradition” for every grade level.
